US EverQuest II Live Servers will be brought offline on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 7:00AM PDT for an update. EU EverQuest II Live Servers will be brought offline on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 9:00PM PDT for an update. (Approx. 5:00AM London Time on May 13, 2015). Both are estimated to have on hour of downtime. Here's the update notes: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION General Werner Thunderleg will now cast Total Domination correctly. F.S. Distillery: Beggars and Blighters [Raid] Kildiun the Drunkard has had his health increased. MERCENARIES Katastra Vilehex now has a more tank focused buff package. ITEMS Corrected an issue with Offensive Focus effects that prevented them from working for some classes. Sigil of Defiance will now grant melee skills and defense instead of casting skills.

Daybreak Game Company unveiled its new logo and website last week, giving a fresh face as it looks toward the future. We chatted with Daybreak President John Smedley and the Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing Laura Naviaux yesterday evening about the origins of the company's new name and logo, Columbus Nova, the future of its fan convention, and more. Laura kicked things off explaining that the company chose the name Daybreak because it symbolizes the opportunity that each new day presents and the"renewed spirit each and every day to continue to move online gaming forward."With the logo, they wanted the undertones of power in it which is why they chose the coloring of red for the backdrop. The owl's eye"speaks to the nocturnal nature of gamers", with the gear representing the aspect of technology. Duck Mounts Arrive in Norrath [EverQuest II]

It's been a long time coming. After well over a year of player campaigning duck mounts have finally come to Norrath. You'll find them in the in-game store for 1950 Daybreak Cash, and they come in a variety of plumage: Midnight Waterfowl (black duck), Waterfowl (Mallard duck), and Winter Waterfowl (white duck). The Quacken, which is a yellow duck, will only be available for two weeks, and will migrate away from the Marketplace at noon Pacific on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 . Enjoy our fine feathered friends! EU servers will be brought offline on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 9pm PDT (5am London Time) for an update. Expected downtime for both sets of servers is one hour. Here are the update notes: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION F.S. Distillery: The Rum Cellar [solo] The zone entry warning message will now only show for players that do not have the"Exchange of Favors"quest. ITEMS Rumsoaked Cloth Sandles is now spelled correctly. QUESTS Drink is the Key - The sign text on the steam valves now identify that the proper tool must be equipped. Drowning in Drink - Quest now rewards"Jaestern's Prestige Reserve"or"Busted Far Seas Crate"house item each time. Drowning in Drink -"Lift Key"has been renamed"Fermentation Tank Lift Key".

EverQuest II servers are down for an emergency hotfix. According to Holly"Windstalker"Longdale , it's"because a designer broke...uh...death... ." Here's the update notes: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION F.S. Distillery: The Rum Cellar [solo] Fixed a crash that would occasionally happen in the rum cellar solo zone. The radius in which some of the guards will see you along the Rum Run and near Kildiun before sending you to jail has been slightly reduced. Portia Rumuffin should no longer be stuck with her secret recipe buff. F.S. Distillery: Distill or Be Killed [Heroic] Any party members still within the sugarcane press will be freed upon defeating Yipnik. ITEMS The Fishbone Earring's water breathing effect is no longer removed upon zoning, relogging, or death.

The Freeport City Festival Starts Tonight! [EverQuest II]

Tomorrow is the beginning of May, bringing us the Freeport City Festival ! The festival begins on May 1st at 12:01am PDT and runs until May 7th at 11:59pm PDT. You can find the Far Seas Caravan in the Commonlands, between The Crossroads and the Freeport Griffon Tower. Visit the Far Seas caravan merchants to see all of the local specialities and other festival goods , and don't forget to check out the four City Festival achievements (listed under Live Events in your journal). An Aether Race will also be available in Commonlands during the festival. Participate and achieve a time of 119 seconds or less to earn the Portal Jumper prefix title! Begin the race by speaking to the referee just up the ramp from the Commonlands dock.

John Smedley Explains Recent Interview Comments [EverQuest II]

During a recent interview , Daybreak President John Smedley was quoted as stating the following: "I firmly believe the days of the WoW-style MMO are over,"Smedley said."And that means we have to change with the times. Luckily, we were kind of early on that bus as opposed to late. But we're changing what we're making. Look at H1Z1. Is it an MMO? Sure, by definition, but I would consider it a session-based online game with a lot of people. And I say that because the average life expectancy in H1Z1 might be 45 minutes, and that's what today's gamers want. How many people do you still know that are still raiding in WoW every night, or EverQuest and EverQuest II? It's just the time commitment necessary has changed so much. Daybreak Unveils New Site and Logo [General News]

Daybreak Game Company finally unveiled their revamped website and logo after months of waiting. The new logo features the eye of an owl who appears to be glaring at the rising sun. As for the website, www.daybreakgames.com is finally active and has received a makeover. The top part has jumbo-sized features while the bottom allows you to navigate between their different posts and social media feeds. Also of note: Station Cash is now called"Daybreak Cash"on the new site (it's just renamed; your balances remain the same). What do you think of the new logo and website?
