The servers went down this morning at 4am PT to bring you this update: POPULATION / ZONE PROGRESSION Ossuary: Choir of T'Vyl [Event Heroic] Legionnaire Spirits should be less punishing. One player in the group should be able to see Ubis the Dagger when he shrouds himself. ABILITIES / ALTERNATE ADVANCEMENT Berserker Destructive Rage (Ancient) will now also boosts strikethrough for raid members. ITEMS Cyan adornments will drop in Altar of Malice contested zones more frequently. Transmutation Stones have been added to the drop tables in Altar of Malice contested zones and Loyalty Merchant. These stones have the chance to transmute into up to 5 Polished Mana. Tier 1 Raid armor (red gem) has been increased in power in almost all cases.

All US servers came down for a weekly hotfix this morning. EU servers will come down at 9pm PT (5am London Time). Here are the patch notes: GENERAL Map Fog has been removed. ABILITIES / ALTERNATE ADVANCEMENT General Expert Spells of a higher tier will now do more damage than the same spell Master previous tier. For example: Level 91 Faith Strike (Expert) will now do more damage than level 81 Faith Strike (Master). ITEMS Bound transmutation stones purchased from the loyalty merchant may now be transmuted correctly. Corrected an issue where some pvp adornment added red gem armor lost its ability mod. QUESTS Altar of Malice and Tears of Veeshan Weekly Missions are now classified as Weekly Missions in the Quest Journal. Altar of Malice Weekly Solo Dungeon, Weekly Heroic Dungeon and Weekly Raid missions will now award Malice Gemstones.

UPDATE, Feb 12th : Thanks to everyone who has reached out to us regarding this news. I doubt we'll get an exhaustive list, but it's obvious that the community team, producers and developers were all hit pretty hard. One year ago I took the above picture of a smiling Linda"Brasse"Carlson , the Director of Community Relations, in her expertly handmade dwarven regalia, on the Sony Online Entertainment campus. About an hour ago the first confirmed layoff from the transition to Daybreak Games hit, with Linda posting on Facebook that"I have been released from the best and most challenging job I have ever had. I thank you all for being part of that incredible experience. Too many people to thank personally, but know that I am extraordinarily grateful and very curious where life takes me now." UPDATE - Saturday February 14 : Daybreak had connection issues overnight; forums are back up, but login may not be completely stable yet. It is being worked on. 12:30pm ET : Smed , Holly and Emily (Domino) have all confirmed that there are DDOS attacks going on. They're doing what they can, but expect things to be unstable until it's mitigated. 3:30pm ET : Everything should be back online now! Holly posted a bit more this morning on the EQ2 forums, and twice on the EQ forums, both of which we've included after the jump. If you're unfamiliar with Holly, read this comment . I suppose there’s only one thing to talk about this week. Sony Online Entertainment broke away from its parent company to become Daybreak Game Company , thanks to investment from Columbus Nova. As is the all too common and incredibly unfortunate nature of deals like these, the company had to let some people go . When costs are too high for projected revenue, tough decisions have to be made. The important thing to remember in times like these is that it’s people making these decisions, and these decisions affect people. For all that we care about the games (which is less than the current and former employees of Daybreak, by the way), what this means to us as players is insignificant compared to what it means to the people whose lives were affected. I want to take a moment to state that I am in full support of the talented, passionate people still at Daybreak, their amazing work continues to inspire me, and I have complete faith they will continue to blow us away. ...

Roshen posted on the official forums : The Unrest server will be brought offline on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at 4:00AM Pacific for server maintenance. This server is estimated to be unavailable for approximately four hours. Keep an eye on the EverQuest II forums and social media for status updates and for news if additional downtime is needed. Executive Producer Holly Longdale and other members of the EverQuest II developer team will address the community and answer some questions during the Wednesday, February 18 Twitch livestream . It kicks off at 3pm PT/6pm ET. THE LIVESTREAM HAS ENDED! Notes we took during it are after the jump ; the recording is now available below. EQ2 Wire has also posted a recap of the stream. NOTE : I saw a lot of people complaining about how vague the livestream was afterward in the Twitch chat.
