The US Servers will come down on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at 7:00 am Pacific for a hotfix. The expected downtime is one hour. The EU Servers will come down on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at 5:00 am London Time*. The expected downtime is two hours. The full patch notes are available after the jump. ITEMS Many No Trade adornments are now Heirloom. Forged Claws of Drelkuma now have a 4 second delay. The Rift Guardian armor set for Wardens now has wisdom in place of strength. Plane of War: Blade of Universal Conflict - Indestructible Being now procs 15 crit bonus instead of 15 potency. Fancy yourself a designer? If so, SOE is opening the door for you. We were being teased on twitter last night by John Smedley and now we know why. It was announced just moments ago via a press release that SOE is launching their Player Studio : "For the first time in SOE history, players will be able to build and sell their own items, truly creating a unique, customizable online marketplace within our games,"said John Smedley, President, Sony Online Entertainment."At SOE, we believe everyone is a gamer at heart, and our goal with Player Studio is to provide a platform on which our players can further explore their inner gamer while showcasing their passion for the games they love. GENERAL New options have been added to the Merchant window: You can now‘Hide Unusable’ items,‘Hide Outleveled’ items, and show‘My Class’ useable items within any merchant window via checkboxes. A text field has been added which allows you to filter items in a merchant’s list. Here's the EQII update notes for August 7, 2012. Note that there is an SOE-wide four-hour downtime on Tuesday morning, rather than the usual hour EQII usually sees on patch days. SOEmote Your Way SOEmote is finally ready to go live on August 7!  After showing the feature at E3 in Los Angeles earlier this year and getting a lot of interest and feedback, we opted to spend more time developing it to make it fit easily into the game experience so it felt fun, natural, and easy.  You will find the SOEmote listed in the main EQII menu in game, as well as in the game Options. Some features we added are: Auto-Enable SOEmote with Webcam. To start with, we wanted the feature to be easy to use. If you have a camera set up, SOEmote will automatically send you a message to enable the feature and options when you log in. After that, when you log in with a webcam, you will be reminded that the feature is active. SOEmote Group Window: Included by default if you set up SOEmo ...

The EU Servers will come down on August 1, 2012, at 5:00 am London Time for the same hotfix, with an anticipated two hour downtime. Patch notes are available below.  Here's our handy Time Zone Conversion Tool to help you plan. GENERAL Options for who to display a casting bar for, as well as special coloration for allied casting bars, have been added.  These options can be found under User Interface (Advanced) - Targeting Windows. PVP PvP Hot Zones have been added! Defeating players while in these zones will be more rewarding.  You can check the current Hot Zones on the Welcome Screen or use the /gethotzones command. The City Festival Has Begun! [EverQuest II]  from ZAM News (full)

The height of summer has arrived with August, bringing us the Kelethin City Festival ! The festival began on August 1st at 12:01am PDT and will run until August 7th at 11:59pm PDT. The Far Seas Caravan can be found in Greater Faydark on the Green Knoll. Sanya Farshore, the General Goods merchant, is proud to feature Bags of Teleportation Pads in her inventory. They cost 20 City Tokens, with each bag holding two Teleportation Pads . Visit the Far Seas caravan merchants to see all of the local specialities and other festival goods . An Aether Race will also be available in Greater Faydark during the festival. Participate and achieve a time of 94 seconds or less to earn the Bixie Barnstormer prefix title! Begin the race by speaking to the referee inside the city.

SOEmote to Launch August 7 [EverQuest II]  from ZAM News (full)

According to the EQII August Update Plans , SOEmote is scheduled to launch on August 7! This new feature allows you to animate your character's face using a webcam.  You will find the SOEmote listed in the main EQII menu in game, as well as in the game Options menu.  Another August feature is"Ethereal Weapons,"which sound a lot like Artifacts. Can these whispers of legendary artifacts be true?  If so, whatever spiritual rift that is bringing these weapons into Norrath isn't likely going to last long.  Go forth, heroes of Norrath, and see if you can discover one of these powerful weapons before they vanish from our world once again! And random loot for Station Cash? SOE is introducing instanced minigames which will allow you to earn random loot from a chest or reward tokens which can be spent at a merchant. You purchase a ticket to the minigames with Station Cash on the Marketplace. Watch ZAM for more information on these features as it becomes available!
