Fan Faire Recap: EQII Tradeskill&Housing Forum [EverQuest II]  from ZAM News (full) 
Emily"Domino"Taylor, Greg"Rothgar"Spence, Nandy"Zoltaroth"Szots and Paul"Frizznik"Carrico presented Tradeskill and Housing changes to the EQ2 community at Fan Faire. The Tradeskill and Housing panel opened up with a recap of prestige housing that has been introduced to the game. Everyone was informed that the multitude of prestige home portals currently in South Qeynos and South Freeport will be changed into a single house directory in those cities from which you can choose a housing destination. Two new prestige houses will be introduced to the Marketplace over the next few months: the Felwithe Mansion and the Tenebrous Island Refuge . In Game Update 61, slated for late August 2011, a House Rating System will be introduced to the game. This feature will allow players to"publish"their home in a directory which other players can then browse and choose to visit homes from. Rebuilding Event: Velious Spires and Dragon Ring [EverQuest II]  from ZAM News (full) 
UPDATE:   Following an in-game announcement around 10:20am Pacific time on July 15, the rebuilding event has been suspended while they resolve some issues. Progress will be saved up through 50% completion rate. According to Associate Producer Emily"Domino"Taylor: We're temporarily disabling the event to work out a couple of issues (thanks to those who reported them!)  Please see this thread for further details . We'll post in the forums when we have a firmer date for the reactivation of the event, but it won't be this weekend as it will require a hotfix . Watch this space for more information as it becomes available. The Velious Transportation Event will see the activation of the Dragon Ring (druid ring) in Great Divide and the Wizard Spires in Eastern Wastes. SOE Fan Faire kicked off with a bang today thanks to a handful of newsworthy announcements from CEO John Smedley and other members of the Sony Online Entertainment team that were made during the opening community address. PlanetSide 2 was the biggest reveal, followed closely by details on the EverQuest and EverQuest II expansions that are launching this November. Also, SOE is launching new security authenticators to help players protect their accounts. EverQuest II's upcoming eighth expansion, the Age of Discovery, was announced Thursday night at the Fan Faire community address , and we got some more interesting details during a panel. Departing from the traditional expansion format of a large amount of content with a few new features, the Age of Discovery will be packed with only features while Game Updates will continue to add more content to the game. The upcoming new class, Beastlord, was described more and the Freeport revamp was also touched on during the panel. SOE Fan Faire came to a close on Saturday night with the grand banquet and costume contest, and we were there to take photos of every costume that crossed the stage . Above you'll see the top winners of the contest, who certainly turned a few heads as they walked through Bally's hotel and casino in Las Vegas. All SOE games and services are expected to be offline for several hours beginning in the very early morning hours on Tuesday: Beginning July 12, 2011 at 1:00 a.m. US Pacific Time, we'll be performing maintenance on all games and services. During this maintenance, our forums, websites and games will also be unavailable. The estimated downtime for the maintenance is 7 hours. Fortune League Facebook Game to Cease Operations [EverQuest II]  from ZAM News (full) 
Sony Online Entertainment announced yesterday that Star Wars Galaxies will be shutting down at the end of this year, but it turns out that's not the only SOE game that's closing its doors. Fortune League , the Facebook strategy game based in the EverQuest II universe, will cease operations on July 11. Here's the official announcement that was posted on the application and e-mailed to players: "As of Monday, July 11th this Facebook game will no longer be operational. In the meantime, you may continue to play and redeem prizes until the conclusion of this final season. However, the ability to add Station Cash funds to your wallet will be disabled on Friday, June 24th. Any existing funds in your wallet can still be used until the game is turned off. Beginning on Monday, July 11th, you may request a refund of the non-promotional Station Cash in your wallet if you play Fortune League and do not also currently play any other SOE game (EverQuest II, Free Realms, etc.) where you can ...
