ZAM's Returning Player Free-to-Play FAQ [EverQuest II]  from ZAM News (full)
We've seen several players from the past poking around various forums asking how exactly they can get back into the game once it goes Free-to-Play. While many questions are addressed in SOE's official F2P FAQ , it simply doesn't help with every situation out there and sometimes the answers may not be clear. We took the time to compile our own FAQ that we hope will help with a clearer understanding of the many concerns out there. The answers are compiled from a mix of information from SOE's F2P FAQ, developer responses on the forums and personal knowledge of how the current F2P service (EQII Extended) works. Continue after the jump for ZAM's Returning Player Free-to-Play FAQ! ZAM's Returning Player Free-to-Play FAQ When is EverQuest II going Free-to-Play? EverQuest II is going Free-to-Play on the same day that the Age of Discovery expansion launches: December 6, 2011. [ source ] What is happening to The Bazaar and Vox? An Age of Discovery for EverQuest II [EverQuest II]  from ZAM News (full)
December 6th, 2011 is going to be a big day for EverQuest II players. That’s the day Age of Discovery, the latest expansion for the long running MMO EverQuest II launches, along with Game Update 62, Freeport Reborn. Did we forget to mention that EQII goes Free-to-Play on that day as well ? It’s a lot to take in, so ZAM Staff Writer Patrick Do went on an in-game tour in EverQuest II to see what Age of Discovery will bring. The Age of Discovery expansion will see the long awaited return of the Beastlord class to Norrath. The interesting thing about the Beastlord class is that players will have the opportunity to tame wild animals throughout the world and summon them into battle. The Beastlord class plays a lot like a combination of Scouts, Coercers, and Brawlers and brings yet another dimension to one of the deepest MMOs on the market. It’s also a class that appeals to the collectors amongst us, as you can go about taming many types of animals to su ...

UPDATE, DATE CHANGE :  The new Launcher will go to Beta tomorrow (Wednesday, November 30), and to Live on Thursday, December 1, 2011. Starting on Thursday (December 1, 2011) , the EverQuest II LaunchPad will be updated automatically for you when you log in. This version is LaunchPad 4.  It's important to note that all previous launchers (the retail patchers, Station Launcher, and the current full/streaming LaunchPad 3) will become entirely non-functional . Be prepared!   There are a number of improvements in this version of the launcher: It no longer requires a Flash installation. Much faster patching speed (as much as 10X faster if you're still using the original Station Launcher). Less data gets patched (smarter differentials between versions). A general aesthetic upgrade. SOE has provided a FAQ on EQ2 Players and a Knowledge Base Article with complete, step-by-step instructions . UPDATE:  According to a FA ...
